Nerissa Dcosta

Nerissa D’Costa is an Indian abstract artist, restraunteer and baker. Her art work embodies the belief that all art is freedom and expression. Through her art she navigates and understands the world’s canvas. For Nerissa, art isn’t about rules or theory but is about abandoning the sense of right or wrong and focusing purely on the intrinsic expression of one’s true self. To live and paint without judgement and social ire. Nerissa uses acrylics on canvas and refrains from using brushes for most of her abstract paintings. She believes in disrupting form and symmetry and using a multitude of palates and different mediums and tools, for example: pouring techniques to tell a story on the canvas. In her downtime, Nerissa runs a restaurant in Goa, India called House of Llyod’s. She cites Jackson Pollocks’ paintings of abstract expressionism as one of her major influences.
